Team Hancock’s Ryan Edwards Awarded Maine Forest Products Council Rising Star Award

Ryan Edwards

Hancock Lumber is excited to announce that Casco Sawmill Finished Products Manager, Ryan Edwards, has recently been awarded the Rising Star Award from the Maine Forest Products Council. Ryan accepted the award at Hancock Lumber’s Sales and Production meeting in September from Mike Shane, Hancock’s Regional General Manager of White Pine Manufacturing.

The Rising Star Award recognizes an outstanding individual who represents the next generation of progress, standing for the future of the industry, and the many opportunities that are available for the younger generation. Candidates must be a positive steward for Maine’s forest products industry for many years to come, present a positive image in their industry, and maintain an honest and reliable reputation within the forest products community.

Ryan Edwards + Mike Shane

Ryan joined Team Hancock in 2004 straight out of high school at the age of 17. He started in the yard doing basic organizational work before starting to train as a kiln operator once he turned 18. From the beginning, Ryan demonstrated an eagerness to learn, excellent organizational skills, and an ability to connect with the team. Ryan progressed into various roles, earning promotions as yard manager, scheduling + sales support, and into his the role of finished products manager. In his current role, he oversees all kiln, planer, moulder, and yard operations, including responsibility for safety, engagement, product quality, and overall performance.

Hear from a couple of Hancock Lumber’s leaders on Ryan earning this award:

Ryan embodies the company culture perfectly, manages people very well, is well organized, engaged and has unmatched work ethic. Hancock Lumber is so grateful to have him part of our team!

—Mike Shane, Regional General Manager
