Rebecca Hatfield Selected as Panel Speaker at Olympia Snowe’s Women’s Leadership Institute Fall Forum

Rebecca Women's conference

Hancock Lumber’s Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, Rebecca Hatfield, recently participated in the Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute Fall Forum, an event dedicated to empowering young women across Maine to discover their strengths, build confidence, and develop as future leaders.

The Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute guides high school students through a three-year leadership journey centered on values, voice, and vision. Each year, hundreds of students and volunteer mentors gather at the Fall Forum to learn, connect, and support one another as they grow into leadership roles in their schools, communities, and future careers.

This year’s event brought together more than 650 students and 220 mentors from across Maine. Rebecca served as one of four speakers on the Values Panel, sharing her personal and professional journey with participants and discussing how her values have shaped decisions throughout her career. Following the panel, she led a breakout session for approximately 70 students and mentors, encouraging meaningful conversations and reflection. Rebecca also spent time meeting one-on-one with senior participants as they prepared for life after high school.

For Rebecca, one of the most inspiring parts of the experience was seeing hundreds of young women from diverse backgrounds come together to learn from one another, build connections, and share their stories.

“The energy in the room was incredible,” said Rebecca. “Watching these young women engage with each other, ask thoughtful questions, and support one another left me feeling optimistic about the future.”

The event concluded with one of its most meaningful traditions. Adult mentors and speakers formed a circle around the students, symbolizing the network of support that surrounds them and reminding them that they are seen, valued, and never alone.

“It was a powerful visual representation of women across generations investing in each other’s success,” Rebecca shared. “The future is bright when we continue to create opportunities for young women to learn, lead, and grow.”

Through mentorship, leadership development, and community support, the Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of young women throughout Maine, helping shape the next generation of leaders.
