Hancock Named “Best Places to Work” in Maine, 3 Years in a Row!

Best Places to work banner

Congratulations, Team Hancock! Hancock Lumber has been named one of the ‘Best Places to Work’ in Maine by our people for the 3rd year in a row!!!

Hancock Lumber’s Director of Human Resources, Wendy Scribner, commented on the accolade, “This is so exciting for all of us and really says so much about our people, our teams, and our company culture as a whole. This is a tremendous accomplishment to be very proud of and speaks to our engagement efforts we all work on together. Thank you to our employees, customers, vendors, and community partners  for helping to make Hancock Lumber a ‘Best Places to Work in Maine’!”

Brunswick TeamThe 2016 Best Places to Work in Maine list recognizes companies that establish and foster outstanding workplace environments. This year, the Best Companies Group (an independent survey organization) only selected 75 Maine companies to receive this honor.  Hancock Lumber was 1 of only 21 large employers to earn this award (250+ employee category).  This statewide program identifies, recognizes, and honors the best places of employment in Maine with 75% of the ranking based on employee responses to the survey questions and 25% based on the Best Companies Group review of the nominating company’s benefits, policies and best practices. Hancock Lumber will be recognized and honored at the Best Places to Work in Maine awards ceremony on October 4th and profiled in a special publication by Mainebiz.

Company President, Kevin Hancock, wrote a note to all employees upon receiving the news:

“I don’t want to get carried away, BUT…we are paving new ground in a world that needs new ground paved. The paradigm for how people interact with each other on this planet needs to change.  Every person on a team (in a tribe) needs to be respected and give respect to others. It’s about a different way to treat people. To be able to bring that different way into a corporate “BUSINESS” environment is very powerful.  To see a company of sawmills and lumberyards modeling a new pattern of shared leadership is cause to smile!  We are far from perfect, but we are trying to face the right direction and walk a good path that respects and benefits EVERYONE!”
