Hancock Culture: Hear Directly from the Voices of Team Hancock

Hancock Lumber’s Marketing + Communications Director, Erin Plummer, recently presented at the annual LBM Journal Strategies conference in Texas.   Asked to speak on the topic, “How to Make Your Company a Best Place to Work”–the heart of the Hancock culture, Erin opened her talk with this quote:

“I’m a firm believer that the brand is the heart and soul of an organization, delivered most powerfully through its employees and customer experiences.”

—Erin Plummer, Marketing + Communications Director

In preparation for the event, Hancock’s marketing team toured the state interviewing employees and customers on topics related to: culture, relationships, and the building industry as a whole.  Hearing directly from our people and our customers speaks to the workplace environment the company embraces and works on every day. Please enjoy this short video highlighting the voices of Team Hancock!

Quotable quotes captured from Hancock Lumber employees  discussing their work culture:

“Being awarded Best Places to Work in Maine for the 4th year in a row is such a sense of pride for the whole company. It’s very important to be recognized and we are doing a lot of hard work to get there. There’s been a lot of focus on getting employee feedback and improving on things employees felt needed to be improved on—it shows that the company cares and that they listen and they respond.”

–Heidi Sherman | Logistics Manager, Kennebunk

“I think the award we’ve received for the past 4 years, Best Place to Work, really speaks for itself. It’s a great place to work, but not only that, it’s a fun place to work. I enjoy coming here every day. I get to work with great people and every day is a challenge. It’s just a great culture!”

–Evan Beaulieu| Project Pro, Brunswick

“Receiving the best places to work award and knowing that the survey responses are from our entire team makes it one of the more meaningful accolades we could possibly receive. It helps to tell our story in support of our culture, beliefs, shared responsibility, and respectful treatment of one another.”

—Wendy Scribner, HR Director

“The accolades are important… it was actually one of the reasons why I was interested in joining the company over a year and a half ago. The idea that we were named as a Best Places to Work meant that employees were treated well and fairly, that leadership actually cared about the well being of the employees, and it just said something about the overall character and culture of the organization.”

—Jim Vitello, General Manager, Kennebunk
