Hancock Lumber’s Wolfeboro lumberyard recently completed several exterior renovation projects and celebrated with a ribbon-cutting celebration on October 30 bringing together employees, customers, vendor partners, and community members. Aimed at enhancing both the employee and customer experiences, Team Hancock’s commitment to reinvestment projects continue.
After a morning of networking, attendees enjoyed delicious food from Mow’s Munchies + Arlene’s Asian Kitchen food trucks, product demonstrations from vendors, and a chance to enter to win some great raffle prizes. Hancock Lumber President & CEO, Paul Wainman, and Chief Operating Officer, Mark Hopkins, each gave remarks which was followed by the official ribbon cutting.
Construction on this project started in July of 2024, with significant upgrades including
- An updated warehouse featuring new and additional racking for improved organization and accessibility.
- Improved site work, drainage, and brand-new pavement throughout the entire yard.
- Five newly constructed lumber trees to better protect and store building materials
Here is a little history and a few fun facts about this location:
- Winnipesaukee Lumber started in May of 1985 on Rt 28 (Center St ) and moved to the current location in May of 1987. In 2004 the team completed a major remodel of the store with the addition of the second-floor office space. Hancock Lumber acquired Winni Lumber officially on Nov 1st 2021, carrying on the Quinby family legacy that began in the eighties.
- Today our Wolfeboro location has 6 delivery vehicles and 30 employees—13 team members who were part of the 19 Winni employees who stayed on following the acquisition.
- Actively engaged in the community—our largest commitment is to the school arts department and the Maker’s Mill—a space where people can get training in everything from woodworking to quilting to jewelry making, as well as numerous contributions to many charitable organizations throughout our region.
A big thank you to our partners throughout the construction period including:
- Meridian Construction including Tim Long, Kyle Long, Rob Stewart, and Ed Hannon
- Sebago Technics, Trillium Engineering, and the Town of Wolfeboro
- Mark and Kevin from KJ Fisher & Sons
- LP Smartside for discounts and donations to both the warming hut and gables of the barn
- Tando stone for labor and material donation for the warming hut to keep our team members in the yeard cool in the summer and warm in the winter
- Thank you to our vendors who supported the ribbon cutting celebration
- Team Hancock—our entire Wolfeboro team and all of the supporting players—Dan Lauze for project managing, Tom Cayon for site leadership, all of our employees—including a special shout out to the yard crew for being flexible, safe, and navigating this big change for long-term improvements to the site—you each helped keep us progressing toward the finish line.
- Finally, a HUGE thank you to all of our customers for your patience as we remained open during construction—our goals were to make this an easier shopping experience, to maintain the highest quality product, and to better organize and protect these building materials.
