During the company’s June board of directors meeting, Hancock Lumber welcomed their two seventh generation owners as official board members. Chairman and sixth generation owner, Kevin Hancock, welcomed daughters, Abby (Hancock) Doherty and Sydney (Hancock) Hillman, during the June meeting where they joined six other board members—their dad, Kevin, along with five additional outside directors.

With a career rooted in business development and enterprise sales, Abby has built a strong track record of driving growth and forging strategic partnerships across the tech industry. Serving in roles such as Senior Partner Relations Manager and Enterprise Account Executive, she’s led key alliance initiatives and partner engagement. Abby has specialized in managing complex accounts, securing new business, and delivering scalable solutions to high-profile clients. Currently a Senior Account Executive at Datadog, Abby has grown into this role, becoming an expert in targeting and closing new business with their largest, most strategic customers and prospects. A graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Abby majored in American Studies while playing on the women’s basketball team and serving as team captain her senior year.

“It’s hard to put into words what being connected to the Hancock Lumber team has meant and continues to mean to me. I’m so proud to support a company that leads with purpose, puts people first, and continues to evolve while staying true to its roots. As a seventh-generation member of the Hancock family, I have a deep commitment and appreciation for our company’s culture and legacy—I am honored to contribute to our future through board service.”

“In a family business journey spanning three centuries and laced with noteworthy moments, having Abby and Sydney join the Hancock Lumber Board of Directors is one of them. In assuming these roles, they become the seventh generation of the Hancock family to serve the company in this capacity. For the company, this is a meaningful manifestation of our business commitment to remain local and independently owned. For me it’s just a happy moment to work alongside them both. It’s also a proud moment because I know how thoughtful, insightful, energetic, and talented they both are, and our Board has already benefited from their presence. It’s also great to add perspective from the younger generation they belong to. Growing up in Casco and around the company they each have an imbedded awareness of the values of the business and its meaning to the employees, customers, suppliers, and communities we serve. It’s lovely to see and be a part of.”
