Bernstein Shur hosted their 10th annual Women in Construction event on May 15th at the beautiful Falmouth Country Club where 11 of Team Hancock’s women leaders attended along with over 250 other women from across Maine’s construction industry. Bernstein Shur’s annual Women in Construction and Project Development Event creates a rare opportunity for women to come together to build community and discuss trends, challenges, and opportunities.

Three speakers presented during the event with the theme focused on Building on the Past and Framing the Future. Hannah Pingree, Director of Maine’s Office of Policy Innovation & the Future, Giovanna Guidoboni, Dean of the Maine College of Engineering and Computing, and Brie O’Malley, Director of the ReVision Energy Training Center shared their stories and inspiring words of advice. One of our favorite takeaways was from Italian-born Giovanna when she compared Maine to a village—she shared that when she moved here it was the first place that felt like home (away from home in Italy). And, this was because of the people here and their willingness to build community and to be connectors.
