Kevin Hancock Joins the Board of Directors at The Mitchell Institute

The Business of Shared Leadership and Kevin Hancock are proud to announce that Kevin has officially joined the Board of Directors, along with three other Maine based leaders, at The Mitchell Institute. Kevin had this to say about his recent election to the board:

I’m happy to have joined the BOD of the Mitchell Institute. The mission of the Institute is to “increase the likelihood that young people from every community in Maine will aspire to, pursue, and achieve a college education”. The Institute provides $10,000 scholarship opportunities to approximately 200 graduating seniors from every public high school in Maine. Presently there are 657 Mitchell Scholars currently in college and 3,150 Mitchell Scholar alumni. The organization has awarded over $25 million in scholarships since inception. The entire organization is a testament to the vision and goodwill of one of Maine’s finest citizens, Senator George Mitchell. Here’s a quote from Senator Mitchell that I find inspiring: “Foremost among the principles that have guided my actions in public service is my conviction that in America, no one should be guaranteed success…but everyone should have a fair chance to succeed, to go as high and as far as his or her talent, willingness to work, and willingness to take risk will carry them.” I LOVE that statement! —Kevin Hancock, Managing Owner/Chairman of Hancock Lumber
