Kicking Off 2025 with Hancock Lumber’s Leadership Summit

Hancock Lumber Hosts 43 Company Leaders For 2-Day Leadership Summit

Early in January Hancock Lumber President + CEO Paul Wainman and Managing Owner + Chairman Kevin Hancock hosted 43 Team Hancock leaders for a companywide leadership summit. Managers from across locations and departments convened for two days to deepen team connections, strengthen company alignment, celebrate Hancock Lumber’s present position, and look at future plans and aspirations.

Day one focused on Hancock Lumber’s current state going into 2025—key topics focused on how we as a company can deliver a consistent, world-class experience across the entire organization, execute on key initiatives and priorities, and strengthen our culture with our company positioned as “One Company with One Vision”. Each table got the chance to have open discussions and share new thoughts + ideas that were brought back to the larger group—shared leadership at its finest. After a full day of reinforcing company goals and priorities, the team bonded over dinner at another favorite Maine business, Luke’s Lobster.

Three leaders from top Maine businesses—and great industry partners—joined the group to kick off day two. Clay Maker, Co-President of Penobscot General Contractors, Mike Davis, President of IRC Roofing, and John Magri, CEO of Mathews Brothers spoke on a panel discussing how each had embraced and implemented shared leadership at their respective organizations. Each guest speaker took the time to share a bit more about their company, how they started or joined the business, and what shared leadership means to them and how its practiced within their company.

Both days brought deep engagement, shared learning, and a lot of laughs + smiles. What a gift to have two half days and an overnight to bring leaders from across the company together and prioritize how to continue delivering on our mission to enhance the lives of the people who work at Hancock Lumber and are connected to the organization.
