Strong partnerships have always been at the heart of Hancock Lumber’s success, and recently our Casco Sawmill team welcomed two special guests from US Lumber for a visit focused on both appreciation and the future.
With longtime procurement partner Calvin Biddix preparing for retirement this December, the US Lumber team visit provided an opportunity to thank him for decades of partnership while helping Joey Tirak, who will assume responsibility for purchasing Eastern White Pine products, gain a deeper understanding of Hancock Lumber’s operations. Together, the group toured our mills, reviewed grades and tallies, explored value-added products, met with the mill team, and discussed opportunities for future growth.

For nearly 30 years, US Lumber has been a valued Hancock Lumber mill customer. Throughout that time, the relationship has extended far beyond buying and selling lumber. Hancock Lumber and US Lumber have worked side-by-side to support customers, develop new opportunities, and strengthen both businesses through a shared commitment to success.
Hancock Lumber and US Lumber have always been all in on each other. Our team has spent many days in the south traveling with their outside sales reps going door to door with retailers trying to win business. And, their team has traveled to Maine with their top customers touring our mills, explaining grade, putting together custom programs, and coming up with value-added product lines to sell in their markets.

“This relationship is very special,” commented Matt Duprey, Chief White Pine Officer. “We have a very transparent partnership built on communication, trust, and truly wanting the best for each other’s businesses. US Lumber knows we’re working for them, and we know their team is always working for us. That’s what has made this partnership so strong for nearly 30 years. Our lumberyards have also been a long-time customer of US Lumbers, purchasing a number of key product lines out of their Boston distribution center.” Hancock Lumber, Chief White Pine Officer Matt Duprey
