Following an internal promotion, Hancock Lumber led an extensive search to find the right fit for the Saco General Manager position. Please join Team Hancock in welcoming Tim Bonenfant as the newest General Manager of the Saco operations. With a career rooted in the industry and with deep connections in Maine, Tim brings the right combination of experience, energy, and aligned values to one of Hancock Lumber’s largest facilities.
Professionally, Tim brings 23+ years of retail management experience to Hancock Lumber, having led teams at both WalMart and Home Depot for over a decade each. That track record—combined with his passion for coaching teams and serving customers—makes him a terrific fit to lead the Saco crew and help shape the future growth of that location.

In his own words, Tim shared what drew him to Hancock Lumber:
“I have always known about Hancock Lumber and have had friends that shopped with them for years—but I didn’t really start to think of the company as a career until the Saco location was being built. I admire how Hancock Lumber invests back into their locations to make them a destination for employees, customers, and vendors. After doing my own research and talking to former peers of mine, I decided to check out Hancock Lumber as a potential ‘final step’ in my career journey. Hancock Lumber’s culture was evident from the start—‘Shared Leadership’ is not just a saying on the wall, but something that permeates all facilities. I have learned a lot in my first month with Hancock Lumber about the value of work/life balance, the importance of safety in the workplace, and how Hancock Lumber empowers everyone to make decisions to benefit both employees and customers.. I am proud to have joined such a great team and can understand why our company has been named a Best Places to Work for 12+ years!”
Born and raised in Maine and currently living in Wells, Tim graduated from the University of Maine–Orono. He’s been married to his wife, Erika, for more than 20 years and they have two children—Owen and Grace. When he’s not at work, you’ll likely find him enjoying baseball or a round of golf.
During work hours, you can find Tim and the Saco team at 941 Portland Rd, running the lumberyard, hardware store, kitchen design showroom, and model tiny home operations.
Team Hancock is honored that Tim chose to join the organization and is excited for the leadership, care, and values he brings to customer, vendor, and teammate partnerships at our Saco location, companywide, and in the surrounding community.
