Hancock Lumber Attends the 2025 ABC Maine Craft Championships

In early April, members of Team Hancock attended the Associated Builders and Contractors of Maine 2025 Craft Championship where John Muzzy, Anna Russo, and Dominic Moore setup a booth, spoke to hundreds of students, and handed out fun giveaway items! Over 1,475 students and instructors from over 30 high schools and CTEs across Maine attended and dove into 50+ hands-on construction trade activities.

Workplace Development Coordinator for ABC Maine, Shari Johnston, weighed in on the importance of events like these for the students of Maine.

The ABC Craft Championship is invaluable for students to explore potential career paths in the construction trades.  It’s also a wonderful way for contractors and businesses to connect with the next generation of skilled workers.

—Shari Johnston, Workforce Development Director, ABC Maine

Team Hancock’s John, Anna, and Dominic also provided valuable insight to the importance of these events not only for Hancock Lumber, but also for the next generation of skilled workers to see all there is to offer within the industry.

It was very energizing to be around such an impressive group of young people! Over the course of the day, we interacted with hundreds of aspiring carpenters, electricians, plumbers, mechanics, and many more to learn more of their aspirations and share more information about Hancock Lumber. For us, it was a great opportunity to partner and support our friends in the construction industry by sponsoring the event, while also engaging with the next generation that we will very likely partner with in the future, and some whom we may even be fortunate enough to employ!

I thought it was great seeing such a large number of kids interested in the trades and asking great questions that could help them find a career. This competition brought kids from all over the state so for Hancock Lumber, this was a great opportunity to have more of a presence than just another store in their neighborhood. I had a great time talking to the next generation of builders!

—Dominic Moore, Augusta Counter Pro

The 2025 ABC Maine Craft Championships was not just an event to showcase skills, but a testament to the work being done to promote the construction trades. By participating, Hancock Lumber is showing our support for these programs helping educate and train the next generation of skilled workers. Students from across the state displayed enthusiasm and curiosity, reaffirming the importance of such programs and events!
