Safety 24/7™ : Individual Leadership and Engagement

Check out our new video below featuring Safety 24/7™ , and hear from members of Team Hancock as they talk about what safety means to them—at work and beyond. Safety is our #1 priority and Safety 24/7™ epitomizes individual leadership and engagement!

Earlier this month all of Team Hancock’s managers and supervisors attended a training program lead by Safety 24/7™ author Greg Anderson. Over the course of two days, the group reviewed key learnings from the book, discussed safety as an extension of your culture, participated in helpful demos and engaging discussions.

This was perhaps the best workshop/event I have attended since working for Hancock Lumber. The planning and preparation that went into making it possible was clearly evident in the way the material was presented. Focusing on the human element throughout the day really made it clear that to get to our TARGET ZERO goal we need buy-in from everyone on our team. However, getting buy-in from the group that was there yesterday is the essential first step. It really is all about how you approach it and coach it – in a non-threatening manner with engaging, open-ended questions.   Finishing the session seeing the faces and activities of our employees and families really sent the message home strongly. I look forward to continuing the journey with the entire Yarmouth crew. Thanks all for the effort – well done!

– Harland storey, Yarmouth general manager

KH mission quote

Culture exists whether you’re working on it or not–ask yourself, “What does the safety culture look like at my company?” Chances are, there’s ways we can all improve our own safety practices and programs. Where and what we put our focus on translates into action and change. Everyone on the team has a role to play in being safe and looking out for the safety of their teammates. Everyone impacts safety.

Target Zero safety milestone
