Hancock Celebrates York County Expansion with Saco Groundbreaking Ceremony

Hancock’s leadership team (L to R:) Bobby Morissette, Erin Plummer, Kevin Hancock, Mike Hall, and Mark Hopkins officially break ground on their newest site in Saco!

On Monday, August 12th Hancock Lumber officially broke ground at the
future home of their tenth lumberyard and kitchen design showroom in Saco,
Maine. The newest location will be Hancock’s fifteenth overall, adding to its
existing network of lumberyards + kitchen design showrooms, eastern white pine
sawmills, truss and wall panel manufacturing facilities, and home office.

Hancock Lumber’s COO, Mark Hopkins, thanked the City of Saco for their enthusiasm in welcoming Hancock Lumber and for their willingness to proactively work with Hancock Lumber, ultimately creating a smooth planning board approval process. Joined by City of Saco officials, Mayor Lovell, Senator Chenette, the Biddeford Saco Chamber of Commerce, KW Architects, TPD Construction, and Sebago Technics building partners, Hancock’s leadership team celebrated this momentous occasion with a groundbreaking ceremony commemorating the start of construction and their York County expansion.

“Hancock Lumber has gone through an impressive evolution, with over six generations successfully developing their unique log to lumber business model. Their location on the Portland Road is well situated to provide quality service to customers in Saco and neighboring communities. Hancock Lumber is an excellent addition to the diverse business community located along the Route 1 corridor.”  – Mayor Lovell

Denise Clavette, Saco’s Director of Planning and Development commented, “On behalf
of the City of Saco, thank you for choosing our city for your first new lumber
yard project since 2005. Hancock will be joining the development surge happening along our Route 1 Opportunity Zone, joining businesses that represent multiple industries and sectors.
Welcome to Saco!”

Located near the corner of Route 1 and Cascade Road, this site is the hub of continued
economic development, is highly visible, and offers exceptional access to
Scarborough, OOB, Biddeford and I-95. Hancock Lumber Saco will position the company
to better serve its current and prospective customers in southern Cumberland
County and northern York County.  While Hancock Lumber has covered the market from Scarborough to Biddeford for decades, a permanent presence with a dedicated store and sales team will improve service and provide even greater access and faster deliveries into these markets.
