Travis Mills Foundation: Hancock Lumber’s Brunswick store and Casco sawmill collaborate for a great cause!

The Travis Mills Foundation Veterans Retreat is the dream of retired United States Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills, who lost both arms and legs in Afghanistan on April 10, 2012, when he was critically injured by an IED (improvised explosive device). During his 19-month recovery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, Mills became passionate about engaging with other wounded soldiers and their families. He founded the Travis Mills Foundation in 2013 to return the goodness bestowed upon him and his family during his recovery. Hancock Lumber is proudly donating over $15,000 worth of materials for the retreat’s lakeside cabin and outdoor water recreation center, opening its doors to veterans from across the nation and their families this July.

“We are thrilled to have the support of Hancock Lumber,” said foundation President and founder Travis Mills. “It’s great to see so many Maine companies coming together to help us realize our dream of providing recalibrated veterans and their families a place where they can connect, rest, and relax while enjoying Maine’s beautiful outdoor heritage.”

Travis will be the keynote speaker at our builder training summit on October 12th, and he will also be setting up dates to tour our mills and speak directly with Hancock employees. Also, watch for more information later this year, as the cabin currently being built with our products will be featured on the DIY show, Cabin Masters. This is a great collaboration project between the retail and sawmill division helping an organization in Maine!

Stay tuned for more information on Hancock Lumber’s builder training summit on October 12, 2017. This builder focused event will feature a keynote by SSG Travis Mills, as well as multiple builder and business training sessions lead by industry experts.
