Eastern White Pine, a traditional building material, has long been the most popular softwood in eastern North America. It has a soft texture, offers greater resistance to splitting than most softwoods and has a dimensional stability and workability that make it ideal for both professional and ‘do-it-yourself’ projects.

A Few Tips On Using Dry Eastern White Pine For Interior Finish Work:
All the Eastern White Pine that we sell as dry is kiln-dried to an average moisture content of 12%. Under certain kiln and/or weather conditions pine may be at 10% average moisture content at the time of manufacture. After storage in our lumber sheds for a few weeks it returns to a higher average moisture content, especially in summer.
The moisture content in a heated Maine home’s woodwork can reach as low as 7% in the winter. This means that kiln-dried lumber must be stored inside the house with the heat on before use, to prevent excessive shrinkage in the finish work in winter. We recommend two weeks minimum.
There is absolutely no other shortcut to achieving top quality results in interior paneling and trim-work using real wood. Done correctly, Eastern White Pine offers beautiful and long-lasting results.
